Wildlife Sanctuaries of Manipur
Khongjaingamba Ching Wildlife Sanctuary
Khongjaingamba Ching Wildlife Sanctuary, which is immediately adjacent to Keibul Lamjao National Park, the floating national park was upgraded from Reserve Forest to Wildlife Sanctuary due to its substantial ecological, faunal, floral, geomorphological, scenic and zoological significance. Yangoupokpi Lokchao Wildlife Sanctuary
Yangopokpi-Lokchao Wildlife Sanctuary is located on the India-Myanmar border in Chandel district. Spread over an area of 185 sq km, Yangopokpi Lokchao Wildlife Sanctuary is recognized as one of the nine Important Bird Areas (IBAs) in Manipur. Furthermore, it is home to immense biodiversity including the elusive and rare red panda, clouded leopard, etc. At present, seven forest villages can be found inside the limits of the sanctuary.

Kailam Wildlife Sanctuary
Located in the Churachandpur district within the Kailam-Tipaimukh hill range of Manipur, the Kailam Wildlife Sanctuary provides a safe haven to five different types of hornbills. Situated between the tributaries of Barak River Jiri and Makru, Jiri Makru Wildlife Sanctuary is located near Imphal. Being part of the Western Manipur Hills, the landscape is beautiful picturesque and lush green.

Bunning Wildlife Sanctuary is located in the Barel Range in Tamenglong district of Manipur. The area is an Important Bird Area (IBA) and many species of native and migratory birds call it home. Zeilad Wildlife Sanctuary
Zilad Wildlife Sanctuary is truly unique as a group of seven lakes form a part of it. Located in the Tamenglong district of Manipur, it is one of the small but extremely beautiful sanctuaries in the state. The confluence of these innumerable freshwater lakes with semi-evergreen and wet hill forests is a sight for sore eyes.
The lakes are teeming with fish, and to any visitor the area appears like a heavenly abode for migratory birds. Located in Bishnupur district, Thinungei Bird Sanctuary is the first bird sanctuary of its kind in Manipur. The area is a mixture of marshy areas, floating biomass and open water. Sharing the western boundary of the famous Loktak Lake, the only fresh water lake in the North Eastern region of India, the sanctuary is home to several critically endangered bird species such as the yellow-breasted bunting.
