Gautam Buddha Wildlife Sanctuary is located in Koderma district of Jharkhand state. The area used to be a private hunting reserve before it became a wildlife refuge. Koderma Wildlife Sanctuary is located in the Koderma district of Jharkhand, which is a rich repository of flora and fauna. The main rivers in the sanctuary are Futlahiya Nala and Rajwa Nala. Dhwajadhari mountain is located within 2 km. Koderma is an important place to visit inside the sanctuary area from the city. Tourists can get a bird’s eye view of the entire sanctuary area from the hill. Koderma forest division is rich in geological assets with the largest concentration of mica in the country. This refuge is open throughout the year, at any time except monsoon as the area becomes wet and marshy, not suitable for travel.

Mahuadwar Wildlife Sanctuary was conceptualized in the year 1986. The sanctuary is drained by the Burha River and its tributaries flowing from the hills of Chhattisgarh. During summer, extreme heat of up to 49 °C can sometimes be experienced during the day, as well as frost at night during winter. The forest area provides a viable home to several species of mammals, including the majestic four-horned antelope, in addition to a significant population of birds.
