Kolleru Bird Sanctuary, located between the delta of the Krishna and Godavari rivers, is also a Ramsar site (wetland of international importance). Kolleru Lake, a natural flood-balancing reservoir for the two rivers, is home to about 20 million resident and migratory birds.

Nellapattu Wildlife Sanctuary: Named after the village adjacent to the sanctuary, Nellapattu is known for the water birds that it attracts. With approximately 1500 pelicans breeding each year, it is the largest breeding site of gray pelicans in Southeast Asia.

Pulicat Lake Wildlife Sanctuary Pulicat Lake Bird Sanctuary is the second largest salt water lagoon in India. The sanctuary is visited by a large number of migratory birds every winter. Kalangi and Arni rivers flow in this area.

Korangi or Koringa Wildlife Sanctuary is a picturesque meeting place of the Godavari River and the backwaters of the Bay of Bengal. This area is mostly covered with mada or mangrove forest. The beach of this sanctuary is a breeding ground for Olive Ridley turtles.

Sri Venkateswara National Park This national park is named after Lord Venkateswara, the presiding deity of Tirumala. The core area of the larger Sri Venkateswara Sanctuary has been declared a national park. This park is situated in the South Eastern Ghats.

Rolapadu Wildlife Sanctuary Located in Kurnool district, Rollapadu Wildlife Sanctuary is primarily famous as the habitat of the Great Indian Bustard. The Great Indian Bustard was discovered in the year 1982 in the grasslands of Rollapadu, between the Nallamalai and Yerramalai hill ranges in the Eastern Ghats.

Sri Lanka Malleswara Sanctuary is the only home to the rare and endangered bird 'Jourdan's Corsair', which was once thought to be extinct. After 1900, there were no reports of the bird, and it was believed to be extinct. In 1986, it was rediscovered in the scrub forests of Reddipalli village in Cuddapah district.

Krishna Wildlife Sanctuary is located at the mouth of the Krishna River, and is one of the few mangrove habitats in Andhra Pradesh. The surrounding areas are very densely forested. The ecosystem supports unique mammals, reptiles, fishes, marine invertebrates and birds.

Kaundinya Wildlife Sanctuary is the only wildlife sanctuary in Andhra Pradesh that is home to Asian elephants. The sanctuary was established to provide a safe home to elephants who had returned to the area after being away for many years.

Gundla Brahmeshwaram Wildlife Sanctuary is located between Kurnool and Prakasam districts. It is situated at two places in the hills, Mantralamma Kanuma and Nandi Kanuma. To its north is Nagarjunasagar Srisailam Tiger Reserve. The hilly terrain of the sanctuary, consisting of plateaus, peaks, valleys and deep gorges, supports diverse flora and fauna.

Sri Penusila Narasimha Wildlife Sanctuary The sanctuary is situated between two important mountain passes; Badvel - Nellore Road and Cuddapah - Rajampet Road. The Velligonda hill range, full of lush green and luxuriant forests, naturally interrupted by hills of igneous rocks, is a paradise for rich and diverse life forms of animals and plants.
